Embedded in this new global development agenda is the Climate Action Goal (SDG 13), which is both directly and indirectly linked to many other SDGs and disaster risk reduction (DRR). Given the recent climate related extreme weather events like Cyclones Idai and Kenneth that ravaged southern Africa, and the April 2019 floods that hit the provinces of Eastern Cape and Kwa Zulu Natal, there is no debate that humanity has a huge challenge at hand. The centrality of climate change and its harsh realities has resulted in transformed global and national agendas seeking to quadruple efforts towards finding lasting solutions. Among such solutions are those aimed at building resilient and adaptive societies as well as countries that are geared towards significantly cutting on activities leading to the mass production of harmful greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that cause global warming and ultimately climate change. | Copyright Holder | Prof Godwell Nhamo | Copyright URL | godynhamo@yahoo.com | Filesize | 5372992 MB | File Format | PDF | [ View / download original document ] |
