However, public policy in Botswana also recognizes that economic growth is not a sufficient condition for poverty reduction. As such, a number of social safety nets (SSNs) have been introduced to assist the very poor and vulnerable groups in society. In this study, a comprehensive review of SSNs in Botswana is carried out. The study draws from interviews and focus group discussions conducted with SSN beneficiaries, key informants, programme implementers and the 2002-03 Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES), to examine a number of issues relating to delivery, administration and effectiveness of the existing SSNs. | Copyright Holder | Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA) | Copyright URL | http://www.bidpa.bw | ISBN/ISSN | 9789991271378 | Filesize | 599730 MB | File Format | PDF | [ View / download original document ] |
