AbstractThis book examines the transition of youth from school to work in Tanzania, focusing on the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA). It analyses labour market conditions, institutional capacity, and employer demand for skills. The study finds that youth face low labour market participation and prolonged transition periods, driven by skills mismatch, limited labour market information, weak institutional capacity, and structural economic challenges. Despite these constraints, TVET graduates remain relatively employable, often securing jobs within two years. The book recommends strengthening linkages among training institutions, employers, and policymakers to improve responsiveness to labour market needs and enhance youth employability.
